...Because as the value of the cattle was seen the market grew but as they began to kill off the cattle, the amount of cattle began to decrease.

...A challenge was the lack of womens rights, and also their husbands who turned to alcohol. SO they went to womens suffrage.

...Americans wanted stability and success they also believed that Manifest Destiny was the idea that God wanted them to go there and that they would be protected.

...Because they would be closer to the railroad lines. And their was also more available land in the West

...Chinese were seen as the scapegoats, they were seen as less. Vigilantes attacked Chinese people in the streets.
How and why did federal Indian policy change during the nineteenth century?
...In 1851 the Treaty of Fort Laramie confined tribes on the northern plains to designated areas in an attempt to keep white settlers from encroaching on their lands. Then the government did nothing to enforce the treaty and its obligations. They sided with the whites.

...Indian people responded by attacking some soldiers, and also they decided to propose a peace treaty. I beleive the peace treaty was in there best interest.

...Men worked the mines, but women flocked to the area as well.
What migrant groups were attracted to the far West? What drew them there?
...The Chinese immigrants were attracted to the far west. Because of Internal conflicts they were attracted to the economic opportunity. They were attracted to the gold rush.
How and why did the nature of mining in the West change during the second half of the 19th century?
...The discovery of gold caused a big surge of successful waves of gold and silver strikes. and then when mining became an industry. Western Mining became an industry, and prospectors became wage workers.
What role did the federal government play in opening the West to settlement and economic exploitation?
...The transcontinental railroad became the gateway to the West. In 1862 the Republican-led Congress appropriated vast areas of land that railroad companies could use to lay their tracks or sell to raise funds for construction.
