With new technonlgy they were able to wipe out waves of soldiers. To protect themselves from the exploding shells and bullts they dug trenches.

In Napoleon day the rifles would take a long time to load and they fought in lines. The new weapons that were introduce in WW1 made warfare nuch deadlier becuase they were able to kill waves of soldiers.

Over the year the Italians and audtrians fought eleven battles with a few major breakthroughs. Many battles were fought over the same land with few results.

How was the Italian Front similar to the western Front?

From 1915 to 1916 the battle lines did not move much.

How was the eastern Front similar to the Western Front?

The eastern Front shifted over more area than the Western Front, with less trench warfare and even more casualties.

In what ways was the Eastern Front different from the West?

Allied troops fought Turkish troops to regain access to the Dardanelles. The Turkish troops pinned the Allies on the beaches. The allies withdrew after 10 months of fighting and many deaths.

What happened at Gallipoli?

The Schlieffen plan created stalemate. Both sides then began to dig deep trenches to protect their armies from fierce enemy fire.

What happened when the Schlieffen plan falied?

Teo new weapons were introduce the new rapid- fire machine gun and the long range artillery gun. This new tchnology mowed down waves of soldiers. The debris killed or wounded even more soldiers than the guns. It allowed to shoot even 10 miles away.

What made WW1 much more deadly than pervious wars?

The first tanks that were owned did not work properly.

Why did tank fail to break the stalemate?

The tanks would have been able to break through the barbed wire and ride over the uneven terrian of no man's land.
