The Ottoman empire joined the Central Powers but eventually lost terrotory due to an Arb revolt, supported by the British. British India, French West Africa, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand sent troops to support the Allies.
How did WW1 affect the Ottoman empire and European colonies and dominions?
The new machines could mow down waves of soldiers. It was able to kill more people quicker. As a result the opposing sides dug trenches to protect themselves.
How did technology affect the way the war was?
Germany had to divert the troops from France to the Eastern Front to fight Russia.The French troops were strengthened by the British forces at the battle of Marne where Germany lost the land of Marne.
How did the Schliemann Plan fail?
The Russians were able to mobilize the army in the east quicker then the Germans thought. Thus caused Germany to divide their troops and become weaker. As a result Britain and France were able to advance at the Marne.
How did the allies stop the Germans from executing the Schrieffer plan?
With new technonlgy they were able to wipe out waves of soldiers. To protect themselves from the exploding shells and bullts they dug trenches.
How did the new or improves weapons make trench warfare necessary?
In Napoleon day the rifles would take a long time to load and they fought in lines. The new weapons that were introduce in WW1 made warfare nuch deadlier becuase they were able to kill waves of soldiers.
How did these weapons make warfare much deadlier than in Napoleon's day when rifles were still hand-loaded?
Over the year the Italians and audtrians fought eleven battles with a few major breakthroughs. Many battles were fought over the same land with few results.
How was the Italian Front similar to the western Front?
From 1915 to 1916 the battle lines did not move much.
How was the eastern Front similar to the Western Front?
The eastern Front shifted over more area than the Western Front, with less trench warfare and even more casualties.
In what ways was the Eastern Front different from the West?
Allied troops fought Turkish troops to regain access to the Dardanelles. The Turkish troops pinned the Allies on the beaches. The allies withdrew after 10 months of fighting and many deaths.
What happened at Gallipoli?
The Schlieffen plan created stalemate. Both sides then began to dig deep trenches to protect their armies from fierce enemy fire.
What happened when the Schlieffen plan falied?
Teo new weapons were introduce the new rapid- fire machine gun and the long range artillery gun. This new tchnology mowed down waves of soldiers. The debris killed or wounded even more soldiers than the guns. It allowed to shoot even 10 miles away.
What made WW1 much more deadly than pervious wars?
The first tanks that were owned did not work properly.
Why did tank fail to break the stalemate?
The tanks would have been able to break through the barbed wire and ride over the uneven terrian of no man's land.
