Colon- used to add on SHORT BONUS (word, list , or quotation ) to the end of an already-complete - create dramatic pauses ex) I went to the store and bought: eggs, ham, and cheese. ex) I only wanted one thing for Christmas: world peace. Semicolon- Join two independent clauses ex) I went to the store; chess was on sale there. ex) My mom, who is a good writer, prepared a speech; it was about the importance of recycling.

Complete sentences- Need a subject & predicate(action) ex) The commercial was persuasive Fragments- an umbrella term for ANYTHING that's incomplete ex) because the commercial was persuasive. ex) The red car Run-on- When two or more sentences are joined together INCORRECTLY -run-on are often missing either a comma(.) or FANBOY's (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) ex) Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. ex) They may take our lives but they'll never take our freedom.
