Other specialists

Many other specialists provide care at the clinic. Their required specialities depend on the patients' needs

Genetic counselor

Advise families on their risk for inheriting or passing on certain diseases.

Medical assistant

An unlicensed caregiver who works under the supervision of physicians; prepares patients for exams; takes vital signs; records medical histories; performs basic lab test, prepare and maintain equipment and supplies; performs secretarial/receptionist duties.

Medical technician

Uses sophisticated equipment and has different responsibilities. Some work directly with patients (a phlebotomist draws blood) while others work in a lab (a histotechnician analyzes tissues).

Patient liaison

Works with patients and their families to address needs and concerns. Acts as an intermediary between patients, their families and the hospital administration.

Medical students

A student enrolled at a medical school, who is training to become a physician.

Advanced Practitioner Provider (APP)

A health care provider who meets state licensing requirements to provide specific medical services. Some examples include but are not limited to nurse practitioners (NPs), clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), licensed clinical social workers(LCSWs), physician assistants (PAs), nurse midwives, physical therapists, speech therapists, and audiologists.

Nurse

A licensed healthcare professional who is skilled in promoting and maintaining health in patients.

Cardiologist

A medical doctor specializing in ailments of the heart

Psychiatrist (MD)

A medical doctor who has specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders

Primary care physician (PCP)

A specialist physician trained to work in the front line of a healthcare system and provide care for any health problems that a patient might have.

Pediatrician

A specialist physician who provides medical care to infants, children, and adolescents.
