Final Project

COMS 226 Digital Imaging Final Project You will create a WordPress blog site with links to each assignment covered in class. You will select a WordPress blog theme and add links and create new pages for each assignment. Once the page is created for the given assignment (for example one page will be created for assignment 1 crop, then another page for the next assignment 2 content). Once the page is created (a link should automatically be created on the main page menu for each new page created) you will upload the content for the given assignment to the given page. *Make sure to title your main page as COMS 226 Digital Imaging (also add the semester and year) Once you have created your site you will need to email the URL to my email address ASAP at [email protected] Title your email message as COMS 226 final project The body should have the link and your name and RU ID This is the most important assignment and grade as it showcases all of the owrk you have completed this semester. It also serves as a repository of your work for further evlauation, assessment, and most importantly as a web-based item for an ePortfolio or to showe an employer. *The above is worth 80% * Below is worth 20% Write a three to five paragraph synopsis here discussing the tools, techniques, and processes used for various assignments throughout the course. Make sure that the correct names are used in describing each tool, technique, and process used. You can pick from your favorite assignment or any assignment or assignments that stand out as the focus of your content for the synopsis. Correct spelling, punctuation, grammar will also be considered in the total accumulation of points. Examples of tools, techniques, and processes (using Adobe Photoshop, HTML code, and Macromedia Dreamweaver) covered in class this semester: Tools: Selection tools (magnetic lasso, lasso, magic wand, color range, filter-extract), healing tools (healing brush, spot tool, spot healing brush, red eye tool, clone stamp tool, pattern stamp tool), color (color picker, gradient tool, paint bucket), text (text tool, bend tool, free transform tool), web links (slice tools), cropping and straightening images (crop tool, trim, rotate arbitrary, measure tool), Special effects (bend tool, free transform, filters, layer styles), etc. Techniques: Image cropping, creating shapes for logos (shape tools), using Photoshop filters for special effects and image manipulation, sizing portions of images (layers, free transform tool), special effects, calculating file size and bandwidth (bits, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes etc) Processes: Image restoration (healing tools), conversion for print (RGB to CMYK), conversion for the web (from .PSD to .JPEG, .GIF, transparent .GIF, .PDF), embed images within an HTML document for the web (HTML code, Dreamweaver, Photoshop), image interpolation (downrezing - decreasing resolution), changing actual image dimensions (height x width), creating an HTML document (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, HTML), create structured directories and manage files ("H" drive, public_html folder, assignment folders), convert images to HTML links (HTML, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver).

Working with multiple layer compositions

Select one image (or 3 different images)to use as a background image and take at least one element from the other 2-4 images and create a collage. You can use any images that you like but the images must be your own (from Facebook, Photo bucket, etc.) or royalty free images. Also, images must be professional and appropriate. Paint, Edit, and Heal

Using the practice photos on the website, create examples of image restoration (20 images total - including before and after images) using a combination of the paint, edit, or healing tools (one can be the "red eye" example image). Save all of the original images AND completed images as a .JPEG or PNG file to the D2L associated drop box (assignment 4 drop box) If you are not finished with an image that you are restoring or altering then save it as a .PSD file until you can finish it (or until you can show the professor if you need help, etc.).
