Evaluative Criteria

The evaluative criteria are the factors that are to be used in determining the quality of a student's response.

Indication of whether a holistic or analytic scoring approach is being used

A rubric must indicate whether the evaluative criteria will be applied collectively in the form of a holist scoring approach, or on a criterion-by-criterion in the form of an analytic scoring approach.

Descriptions of qualitative differences for each evaluative criteria

An explanation for each of the different levels of quality in student responses is required on a rubric. This will clarify exactly what kind of response will receive what kind of score.
