This caused imperialism by trying to create more goods and receive more profit.

Ethnocentrism

One cause of imperialism is ethnocentrism, which is the belief that your cultural values are superior to other cultures and groups. This basically means that you think your culture is better than somebody else's. This caused imperialism by the Europeans believing that their race and customs are superior to others.

Nationalism

One cause of imperialism is nationalism, which is love and pride in ones country which basically means you believe your country is superior or if you are a nationalist, you would display yourself as trying to gain power and prestige for your country. This caused imperialism by creating empires with the motivation to show other countries that their country was the best.

Religious Motives

One cause of imperialism is religious motives, which is setting out missionaries to recruit people to join the Christian community, which basically means that the Christians were spreading around positive information about the empire to help recruit people to their religion. This caused imperialism by these missionaries having the opportunity to unify together and take over a nation.
