7 Layers of an OSI Model
All People Seem To Need Data Processing
Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network Link, Data-Link, Physical
The session layer
Creates, maintains and terminates a network session
The Network Link Layer
Defines the network address as well as manages routing and forwarding of data. ICMP and RIP protocols as well as all other protocols work in this layer.
The application layer
Enable communication among programs
The transport layer
Manages the flow of data from one end of the traffic to the other. TCP and UDP are parts of the layer
The Physical Layer
Mechanical and electrical functions pertaining to voltage levels, physical data transfer rates, and connectors . The PC itself, motherboard, Ethernet card, or a modem are examples.
The presentation layer
Presents data to the Application layer and is responsible for data translation and code formatting
The data-link layer
System software and drivers that provide the synchronization of data traveling across the physical layer.
