A&P Tissue
reticular connective tissue
Connective tissue that contains reticular fibers and cells; used to make the framework of major organs
elastic cartilage
Firm, matrix frmed by college fibers.
areolar (loose) connective tissue
Gel-like matrix with collagen and elastic fibers. Cells include fibroblasts. This tissue wraps and cushions organs.
compact bone
Hard, dense bone tissue that is beneath the outer membrane of a bone
pseudostratified columnar epithelium
Single layer of cells of differing heights, giving the false appearance of more than one layer, when it is actually a single layer. Functions in secretion.
epithelial tissue
Tissue that covers outside of the body and lines organs and cavities.
adipose tissue
collection of fat cells, thi stissue wraps and cushions organs, insulated, engery storage.
blood tissue
connective tissue with a liquid extracellular matrix and formed elements
hyaline cartilage
firm, amorphous matrix formed by collegen fibers.
Dense Irregular CT
irregularly arranged collagen fibers with some elastic fibers
stratifiied
multiple layers
simple
one layer
dense regular connective tissue
parallel collagen fibers with elastin and fibroblast.
epithelial tissue functions
protection, absorption, filtration, secretion, sensory reception
stratified squamous epithelium
several layers of cells. provides protection in area of abrasion.
simple squamous epithelium
single layer of cells, flattened. (cell, nucleus, cytoplasm, and plasma membrane)
simple cuboidal epithelium
single layer of cube shaped cells, secretion and absorption
simple columnar epithelium
single layer of tall cells with round to oval nuclei towards basement membrane. Some have cilia. Functions in secretion and absorption.
