The religious leaders decided to throw some of the apostles in prison. -During their first night of incarceration, they were visited by an angel who freed them from their cells. -the apostles were once again caught preaching in a temple. -The High Council demanded an explanation for their actions. Peter explained that they must obey God before man. This infuriated members of the council who demanded the death penalty for this insurrection.
