Carbon Monoxide 3-5-48
If after monitoring you obtain readings above _______ ppm: Advise the occupants that potentially lethal levels of carbon monoxide have been detected and the occupants must leave immediately. It is not safe to re-enter the structure for any length of time until the source of carbon monoxide can be found and corrected.

CO detectors are required to sound an alarm at ______ ppm within 90 minutes, _______ ppm within 35 minutes and _______ ppm within 15 minutes. Exposure to carbon monoxide exceeding these concentrations and duration's represent a reasonable threshold at which most adverse physical effects of CO poisoning may be experienced.
100, 200, 400
Readings should be taken as follows: 1) At the entry way to the structure, in clean air. 2) Once in the structure, at ceiling, middle and floor levels. (If readings exceed ______ ppm in any area of the structure, personnel should don their SCBA face piece and go on air.) 3) In the room where the detector is located. 4) In each additional room of the house

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established a safe working level for carbon monoxide at ______ parts per million (ppm) over an _____ hour period, in the general workplace.
35, 8
If after monitoring you obtain readings between _______ ppm and ________ ppm: Advise the occupants, if the source has not been found, that we have detected potentially dangerous levels of carbon monoxide and recommend that they leave their home until the carbon monoxide problem is corrected. Also, that it is not safe to stay inside until the source of the carbon monoxide is found and eliminated. Ventilate the structure and check readings again.
35, 99
If after monitoring you obtain readings of ________ ppm or less: Advise occupants that no instrument readings was recorded at 9 ppm or above and no health symptoms are noted. Advise occupant to check their monitor per the manufactures recommends for installation and replacement cycle. Advise occupant to call 911 if alarm sounds again.

If after monitoring you obtain readings of between _________ ppm and ________ ppm: Advise the occupants, if the source has not been found, that we have detected low levels of carbon monoxide, which could be dangerous to stay in for long periods of time. This includes sleeping without ventilation. The problem needs to be corrected immediately. No more than 8 hours of exposure is permissible at this level for healthy individuals. Ventilate the structure and check readings again.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established that residential levels are not to exceed _____ ppm over an _______-hour average.
9, 8
Once readings have been taken in the structure, you can visually check the sensor (First Alert Brand): 1) Open the drawer located on the side of the detector and extend it fully. Remove the sensor from the detector. 2) Turn the module over. You will see two sensor discs located in either side of the module's middle wall. 3) When no carbon monoxide is present in the sensor, the sensor discs are a translucent ________________ color. If the disks are _________________, they have absorbed CO. ______________ indicates high levels have been absorbed.
amber or orange, green or brown, Dark blue or black
Carbon monoxide poisoning may be difficult to diagnose. Its symptoms are similar to the flu, which may include ___________, ____________, _____________ and dizzy spells.
headache, nausea, fatigue
