Tell me about the jobs and companies that make up your career history (what accomplishments would you highlight during that time?)

I started as a server at a local restaurant that focused heavily on the customer. We were taught to view our jobs through the eyes of the customer and that was where I really fell in love with customer service. Some people get worn down by interacting with customers but I found that those interactions gave me energy and joy. I applied to Starbucks when I was 18 and was hired in at a cafe only store on the east side. After 6 months, I transferred to the walker alpine and coventry location where I worked as a barista for 1.5 years before I got promoted to SSV. In my 2 years as a SSV, I have won POQ twice and have developed my leadership skills to lead a team of diverse partners with customers at the forefront of our operations.

Share your previous skills and experiences that you feel stand out as being particularly well suited for a management position?

In my time as a leader, I have developed strong communication skills, have learned how to help partners set and achieve their goals, and have found a strong balance between being results driven and human oriented. When I first started as a shift, I had to learn how to be a supervisor while leading an entire closing team of new partners. I have found that when you put the person first and shed the corporate barrier, you almost always get the results you are looking for.

What has inspired you to apply for a store management position at Starbucks?

The day we had our initial third place discussion was when my mentality completely changed. I knew that day that I wanted to take on a bigger leadership role within the company because it reminded me why I applied to this company in the first place. It might be a big corporation but it is one that cares a lot about social responsibility and treats every person as more than a transaction. I want to cultivate that experience for other partners and lead with our mission and values as my foundation.
