Creativity

is approaching a need, a task, or an idea from a new perspective. Your team needs your mental energies. Sometimes progress depends on your ability to look beyond the way an issue is usually approached. Be willing to listen to others' ideas, and be willing to offer your own. Encourage others to keep trying until success is assured.

Loyalty

is demonstrating commitment to others.

Tolerance

is demonstrating respect for others who do not share my perspective. Tolerant people treat others with respect, no matter how much they disagree or see things differently. Tolerance means upholding the standards we should work and live by, with the understanding that everyone is a work in progress—including yourself. A tolerant person finds ways to reach beyond social, physical, and cultural barriers in order to relate to others. Respect diversity, and try to learn what you can from other perspectives.

Deference

is limiting my freedom so I do not offend the tastes of those around me. At work, it means showing respect for others by getting along with others and helping them be comfortable. The easiest way to accomplish this is to watch your behavior and work hard at not being offensive. Sometimes this is called common courtesy—only it is too often uncommon.

Discretion

is recognizing and avoiding words, actions, and attitudes that could bring undesirable consequences. In practical terms in the workplace, discretion means saying the right thing at the right time and in the right way. For example, some things may be said in private that should not be said on the showroom floor or in a meeting. Words can strengthen or damage relationships or teamwork. Discretion is essential for developing good communication, strong relationships, and a civil and professional workplace.

Forgiveness

is releasing feelings of resentment. Sometimes words or actions can be hurtful, but it is not necessary to hold on to the negative emotions these generate. Honest discussion can help to clear the air. Then, all parties can forget their differences. Purpose to forgive your offenders completely and move forward.

Cooperation

is understanding others so I can effectively work with them. It means rejecting selfishness and being interested in the well-being—and the objectives—of others. Cooperation in the workplace not only means working with your supervisor, but in working with your coworkers as a team. Just think of the term "coworker" and realize that it means you are all in it together. Do your share of the work and attempt to use your intelligence and energy to help the team reach its goals.

Sensitivity

is using my senses to perceive the true attitudes and emotions of others. It means paying attention to others' posture, tone of voice, facial expressions, or changes in habits, and examining your attitudes and behaviors as you interact with others. Observing others can help you understand and empathize. Sensitivity seeks to identify with others' feelings, recognize their attitudes, and share their grief or happiness.

Meekness

is yielding my personal rights and expectations with a desire to serve. In a nutshell, meekness involves controlling your emotional responses to events and personalities around you. When you respond to others, do you react emotionally or do you respond in the way that is best for all involved? Meekness is a true indicator of maturity. It involves being truly concerned about others and doing what is best for them—sometimes at the expense of your own interests.
