Ming Dynasty
Succeeded Mongol Yuan dynasty in China in 1368; lasted until 1644; initially mounted huge trade expeditions to southern Asia and elsewhere, but later concentrated efforts on internal development within China.
How did Beijing become the capital of China?
The second emperor of the Ming dynasty, Emperor Yonglo, moved the royal court to Beijing and built the Forbidden City where no foreigners or commoners could enter.
Yonglo
The son of Hongwu and moved the Ming capital to Beijing. He built the imperial city, which became the Forbidden City. He was also a patron for oversea voyages and exploration.
