Which part of the brain is responsible for keeping you balanced?

Cerebellum

A special fluid between the skull and brain that helps cushion the brain and keep it comfortably in place.

Cerebrospinal Fluid

Name the four lobes in the cerebrum.

Frontal Parietal Occipital Temporal

The lobe located in the front part of the cerebrum. It is where speech and language are learned and used, purposeful movements initiated and problems solved.

Frontal Lobe

Which lobe is responsible for speech and language?

Frontal Lobe

Which lobe is responsible for your emotions?

Frontal Lobe

The outer surface of the brain is called this. Neuron cell bodies give it its color.

Gray Matter

How does myelin help your neurons?

It makes information travel more quickly to the brain.

The left half of the cerebrum.

Left Hemisphere

Which side of your brain is more active when you are doing math?

Left Hemisphere

The lobe located in the back of the cerebrum. It process visual information.

Occipital Lobe

Which lobe processes visual information?

Occipital Lobe

One of the four lobes of the cerebrum. It is located behind the frontal lobe and processes all sorts of sensory information.

Parietal Lobe

Which lobe processes sensory information and integrates it to determine where you are in relation to your surroundings?

Parietal Lobe

When an interneuron in the spinal cord decides to activate a motor neuron without waiting for the brain to give instructions.

Reflex Arc

The right half of the cerebrum.

Right Hemisphere

Which side of your brain is more active when you are working on a piece of art?

Right Hemisphere

The lobe of the cerebrum that processes both smells and memory. It is located near your temple.

Temporal Lobe

Which lobe processes smell and memory as well as tone and loudness?

Temporal Lobe

Why are interneurons and interconnections between neurons important?

The connections determine intelligence.

What is the reflex arc?

The reflex arc is made up of a sensory neuron, a motor neuron, and interneurons. The interneurons are in the spinal cord where the information is processed much more quickly than if it had to travel all the way to the brain. This results in a quicker response which protects the body.

The inner surface of the brain is called this. Myelin gives it its color.
