a,k.a role incongruity --> values, attitude or personal needs are in opposition to role expectation of job

strain is professional's response to problematic situation (stress)

when job is ill defined and vague--> result in unequally applied sanctions ex: pharmacist in nursing unit= everyone doesnt know what he's doin there, but he knows

when training expectations of potential worker is greater than what is needed to perform
