Solution: First, identify the known and unknown variables- S = 16m U = 0m/s V = Find A = 10m/s^2 T = Unknown Look for the proper SUVAT equation that solves for the needed variable. For this problem, use the equation V^2 = U^2 + 2AS. V^2 = (0m/s)^2 + 2(10m/s^2)(16m) V^2 = 2(10m/s^2)(16m) V^2 = 320m^2/s^2 √V^2 = √320m^2/s^2 V = 8√5m/s or about 18m/s

Problem: A point is taken from a displacement time graph. The coordinate is (5,10). What is the slope of the graph and what does it represent at that particular moment?

Solution: Since slope is found through taking the rise over run, the slope at this moment in time is 2 or more accurately, 2 m/s. The slope of a displacement time graph represents the velocity, so the velocity at this particular moment in time was 2m/s.

Problem: The area under the curve/line of a velocity time graph represents the displacement. If the area under the velocity time graph represents a triangle, what is the displacement given that the highest velocity was at 5m/s and the longest time was a 3s?

Problem: A ball with a mass of 8kg and an acceleration of 15m/s^2 collides into a wall. What is the force produced?

Solution: Using Newton's Second Law, F=ma, the force produced is 120N.

Problem: A 175kg weight lifter is able to lift 200N from rest in 5 seconds. How much power did he gernerate?

Solution: Using SUVAT, fill in the following information: S = Find U = 0m/s V = ? A = 10m/s^2 T = 5s Use the equation S = UT + 1/2AT^2. S = 0m/s(5s) + 1/2(10m/s^2)(5s)^2 S = 1/2(250m) S = 125m Now plug in the information into the equation Power = Work / Time Power = (125m)(200N)/5s Power = 5000W The weight lifter generated 5,000W.

Solution: Using the Pythagorean Theorem, solve for the missing side. 3^2 + 4^2 = c^2 9 + 16 = c^2 25 = c^2 c = 5 Now is the equation Work = Fcos(theta)S Work = 5N(cos(45))5m Work = 18J The boy used about 18J.

Problem: A machine generates 100W of power. In order to run the machine, 150W of power is used. How efficient is this machine?
