Alcohol will crack and destroy the eye.
Describe the difference between passive, active, and active assistive range of motion exercises.
Passive is when the resident is unable to move on their own. Active is When the resident doesn't need help with the exercises. Active assisted is when the resident gets some help.
What does rehabilitation involve?
Helping residents move from illness, disability, and dependence toward health, ability, and independence. All parts of a persons liability including physical and psychosocial needs.
List three guidelines an NA should follow to help residents maintain proper alignment.

List 10 problems that a lack of mobility can cause.

What is a prosthesis?
A prosthesis is a device that replaces a body part that is missing or deformed because of an accident, injury, or birth defect.
When performing ROM exercises, where should the NA begin? Which parts of the body should be exercises?
From the shoulders down. The shoulder to the elbow to the forearm to the wrist fingers the hips knee lower leg ankle and toes.
What are some benefits of regular exercise?
Increase of health, better and high self-esteem, better mental health
Look at the adaptive devices in figure 21-4. Choose one and briefly describe how it might help a resident who is recovering from or adapting to a physical condition.
The long comb may help the resident that does not have full ROM comb their hair and have more independence.

The skin and irritation from the sock or prosthesis.
What is the purpose of range of motion exercises?
To decrease or prevent contractures or atrophy, improve strength, and increase circulation.
Why are deep breathing exercises performed?
To help expand the lungs and prevent infection.
