List the Design principles and explain them

Visibility: it is visible what to do (where to click) Feedback: Sending information back to the user about what has been done Constraints: Restricting the possible actions that can be performed. Helps prevent user from selecting incorrect options Menu show available options in black, other options 'greyed' out. Consistency: Design interfaces to have similar operations and use similar elements for similar tasks. (Internal vs External consistency ) Affordance: Refers to an attribute of an object that allows people to know how to use it.

What does interactive (HCI) mean? Give examples of interactive products

an interactive system or computer program is designed to involve the user in the exchange of information. example: Phone, computer, ATM, GPS, Tablets, interface in website.

What is an interface

in computer science, an interface is the point of interaction with software and computer hardware.

What is Interaction design

is designing interactive products to help the way in which people communicate, and interact there day to day lives.

Does HCI and interaction design require specialists from other fields? Why?

-Many people from different backgrounds are involved. -Different perspectives and ways of seeing and talking about things. Benefits: more ideas and designs generated. Disadvantages: difficult to communicate and progress forward the designs being created.

What is HCI

Human computer interaction (HCI) involves the study, planning, and design of the interaction between people (users) and computers.

What are the elements of good design

easy ( to learn and remember ) efficient ( simple and effective ( get the job done)) enjoyable ( pleasant experience, good look and feel )

List the Usability criteria and explain them

effective to use - getting the job done. efficient to use - min resources, max output. Getting the job done well and quick. safe to use -Physical safe while using the product - low risk of making mistakes. easy to learn - people invest time in learning. Easy to remember how to use ( memorability ) having good utility - The representation should be close to real life.

What is "User experience" in relation to ID? And how important is it

the way people feel about it and their pleasure and satisfaction when using it, looking at it, holding it, and opening or closing it. It is very important for a user to have an enjoyable user experience.

What is a user centered design

understanding users needs when designing products. abilities experience enjoyable get the users involve user-centered methods
