What is cholesterol?

a lipid, naturally produced in the liver and absorbed from food as it passes through the intestines, that is needed for the proper functioning of cells and for a healthy body. It's carried by the bloodstream and needed in all cells.

What is HDL?

a lipo-protein responsible for removing excess cholesterol from the blood stream and transporting it to the liver

What is LDL?

a lipo-protein responsible for transporting cholesterol to the cells
