Short Blessed Test

Dementia Cognition in older adults and Alzheimer 3 ranges of scores (normal, questionable impairment, ...) This is a test to see If you need further testing for dementia

Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE)*

Screening assessment: detect the presence of cognitive impairment (orientation to time and place, immediate recall, short-term verbal memory, calculation, language, and construct ability) Similar to MoCA

FAST *Scale*

*A functional scale* designed to evaluate patients at the more moderate-severe stages of dementia when the MMSE no longer can reflect changes in a meaningful clinical way The FAST scale has seven stages: 1 which is normal adult 2 which is normal older adult 3 which is early dementia 4 which is mild dementia 5 which is moderate dementia 6 which is moderately severe dementia 7 which is severe dementia

What assessments *could* be used to test for memory impairments?

*Contextual Memory Test (CMT)* (best) Multiple Errands Test LOTCA-D/G MMSE MoCA Kettle Test

What assessments *could* be used to test for impairments with executive functioning and performing ADLs/IADLs?

*Executive Function Performance Test (EFPT)* (best) Kohlman Evaluation of Living Skills (KELS) Kettle Test Multiple Errands Test

What assessments *could* be used in the geriatric population to screen for dementia or Alzheimer's?

*Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE)* (first screen) The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) Short Blessed Test SLUMS Lowenstein OT Cognitive Assessment-Dynamic (LOTCA-G) Contextual Memory Test Use FAST Scale to further evaluate

Contextual Memory Test (CMT)

Assesses *awareness* of of neurological memory impairments, MH conditions, immediate and delayed recall Before administration give a questionnaire (or verbal questions) to ask them about changes in their memory (a self-report of how they feel their memory has been affected)

The Behavioral Inattention Test

Assessing: *Visual unilateral neglect and inattention* in pt's with right hemisphere stroke, measuring left visual neglect Present the client with pictures and ask them to report what they've seen Could be used in a non-standard way using subtests

Lowenstein OT Cognitive Assessment -Geriatric (LOTCA-D)

Assessing: Orientation, attention, and memory, awareness, visual perception, executive functions praxis 28 subtests 45mins-90mins Adults in SNF, long term care, outpt

Lowenstein OT Cognitive Assessment-Dynamic (LOTCA-G)

Assessing: Orientation, attention, and memory, awareness, visual perception, executive functions praxis Contains memory screen (unlike LOTCA-D) 28 subtests 45mins-90mins Geriatric SNF, long term care, outpt

Kohlman Evaluation of Living Skills (KELS)*

Assessing: Self care, safety and health, mobility, and the use of telephone, employment and leisure Short-term inpt, psych units, older adults Could implement subtests

The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)*

Assessing: attention and concentration, executive functions, memory, language, visuoconstructional skills, conceptual thinking, calculations, and orientation. Instruct pt to complete tasks Instructions walk the therapist through and is easy to score

What assessments *could* be used to test for impairments in vision?

Contextual Memory Test (CMT) The Behavioral Inattention Test

Executive Function Performance Test (EFPT) *

a *performance-based assessment of executive function* through observation of four Instrumental ADLS (bill pay, medication management, cooking) Uses *pre-test* to measure pt self-efficacy and perceived impairments -good test for discharge planning

Multiple Errands Test

a scavenger hunt assessing community mobility, cognitive and executive functioning, memory, functional mobility, social participation, visual acuity and perception, spatial relations, topographical orientation (maps) occupation-based test that you can tailor the test to fit virtually any client factors

Kettle Test

assessing: executive functioning i.e. sequencing planning, problem solving, problem solving, and memory, safety procedures, ability to function at home Occupation-based functional assessment, can be used for discharge planning
