Overboard Recovery Techniques
- wear a saefty harness with a quick release mechanism. If someome falls: - slow down, stop if possible, throw something buoyant to help. - assign someone to monitor the person overboard. - carefully manoeuvre to recover person.
Extend Survival Time in Water
- wear life jacket or PFD. - climb into nearby floating object. - heat escape lessening position. - huddle with others.
Hypothermia
drop in core body temperature below normal level cause or long exposure to cold weather.
Hypothermia Symptoms
- shivering, slurred speech, semi consciousness, - slow and weak pulse, slow reputation, lack or coordination, irrational, confused, sleepy behaviour, - weak pulse, -loss of consciousness. - don't swim to keep warm!!!
