1) requires gathering thoughts & information before communicating 2) take time to calm down if someone is angry or upset 3) prepare to give immediate & honest feedback 4) remember the messages are important to the person delivering it 5) try not to intimidate or pressure someone 6) treat everyone with respect
Communicating with Authority Figures: bosses, teachers, policemen, coaches, etc.
1) should be respected 2) should provide praise and credit to people who are responsible for the success 3) should strive for consistency when dealing with different people
Communicating with Co-Workers
1) should be treated with equality 2) should always follow through with commitments 3) should never criticize each other in front of others 4) should be willing to assist or help each other
Communicating with People from Different Cultures can be very different from people in the same culture
1) tranlation limitations - words from one language do not always translate exactly to another 2) body language - eye contact, posture and facial expressions carry different meanings throughout the world

requires the following skills: 1) appreciate differences 2) eliminate judgemental opinions 3) demonstrate empathy 4) acquire new patterns of behavior and belief tolerate ambiguity

is to look at someone while communicating
