Disabled devices in Xp/2000 shows up as a red X it can mean a user disabled the device or Windows thinks there is a problem. In Win 7 a user that has disabled a device will show as a down arrow with a circle. Unlike XP/2000 a red X in Win 7/Vista a red X means the system thinks there is an issue. So remember in Win 7 down arrow is a user that has manually disabled a device. In XP/2000 a Yelllow ? could be a problem state or Missing driver. In Vista and an ! in the center of a yellow triangle means a hardware conflict or a driver is not installed.
