CR American Revolution and 3 consequences - talk about one
It gave birth to a new nation, which is our present country, the United States creating our Constitution. The Revolution had significant effects on the Native Americans by opening up the western settlements in Marietta, Ohio in 1788 ( first permanent American settlement in the Northwest Territory) causing hostile territorial claims with the Native Americans. The Revolution's most important economic consequence was the end of mercantilism. The British imposed various restrictions, and manufacturing. This opened up new markets and trade relationships with other states and countries. The creation of the constitution- consequence of declaring independence was the creation of state constitutions in 1776 and 1777. The Revolution also unleashed powerful political, social, and economic forces that would transform the post- Revolution politics and society, including increased participation in politics and governance, the legal institutionalization of religious toleration, and the growth and diffusion of the population. Opening of western settlement- it also affected Native Americans by opening up western settlement and creating governments hostile to their territorial claims. The end of mercantilism- the Revolution ended the mercantilist economy, opening new opportunities in trade and manufacturing.
At the outset of the Civil War a significant advantage of the union over the confederacy was.

CR: Immigrant groups that came to CA and one contribution each group made (cultural, political, social, etc). Also explain one of those contributions and how it influenced the development of California.
Mexicans Mexican Americans soon made up the bulk of the labor force in many unskilled and semi-skilled industries, including agriculture, railroads, manufacturing, and domestic service. Many immigrants lived in segregated urban barrios, such as Los Angeles, where they forged new identities as Mexican Americans. Mexican immigrants were sometimes said to have certain positive qualities that made them "better" labor immigrants than the other groups. They were thought to be docile, taciturn, physically strong, and able to put oup with unhealthy and demanding working conditions. Farmers would argue that without Mexican immigrants they would be unable to find the laborers needed to sow and harvest their crops. Japanese Japanese immigration began much more slowly and took hold more tentatively than it had in Hawaii. Farm labor was a common choice among the first immigrants, but they also could be found in lumber mills, and mining camps. Japanese immigrants at first found much of their employment in migratory labor, working farms, mines, canneries, and railroads; sometimes becoming active in the labor agitation of the period. Eventually, however, many were able to launch their own businesses, at first serving the needs of their own community with Japanese restaurants, boarding houses, and shops, but soon opening department stores and tailoring chains that catered to the general public. Chinese Majority of immigrants came to the U.S. permanently, but many came to work, saved money, and went back home. Majority were single men. At first, they came to CA by the gold rush. Many prospected for gold on their own or labored for other miners. Soon, they opened their own restaurants, laundries, and other personal service concerns. After the gold rush, they worked as Ag laborers, railroad construction crews, and in low paying industrial jobs.

CR: The industrialization of America had its costs as well as it's gains. Using your knowledge of U.S. history, explain 3 consequences of the industrialization of the U.S. and pick one of those consequences that was the most influential to go more in detail.
One consequence of Industrialization is the innovations of transportation. The factory systems were introduced and government intervention increased for individual states. The factory system improved production methods. The use of machines in manufacturing spread quickly. With machines, workers could produce goods much quicker than they could by hand. Some inventions include the typewriter (1867), telephone (1876), petrol-engine car (1885). These three inventions produced advancements in communication and travel. The typewriter allowed for more productions of newspapers, writing and published books, and personal correspondence. The telephone allowed for communication. The car allowed for travel.

CR Civil War and 3 Consequences
Slavery At the heart of much of the South's issues was slavery. The South relied on slavery for labor to work the fields. Many people in the North believed that slavery was wrong and evil. These people were called abolitionists. They wanted slavery made illegal throughout the United States. Abolitionists such as John Brown, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and Harriet Beecher Stowe began to convince more and more people of the evil of slavery. This made the South fearful that their way of life would come to an end. Expansion As the United States continued to expand westward, each new state added to the country shifted the power between the North and the South. Southern states began to fear they would lose so much power that they would lose all their rights. Each new state became a battleground between the two sides for power. States' Rights The idea of states' rights was not new to the Civil War. Since the Constitution was first written there had been arguments about how much power the states should have versus how much power the federal government should have. The southern states felt that the federal government was taking away their rights and powers.

CR: After reading an excerpt explain the use of metaphors in the excerpt and then explain the choice of language in regards to the tone of the excerpt. And it was the excerpt on the book of salt. You must cite the excerpt.
The author uses metaphors for various reasons to transfer one idea to another. Sometimes the ideas are too complex to be thoroughly explained without the use of a metaphor or as in this excerpt the idea isn't too complex, but describing the concepts in basic terms isn't doing the idea of justice. For example, when the author mentions " they sit with slackened jaws, silenced" instead of saying that they a````[Another reason the author uses metaphors is that they allow the reader to be able to relate to the message of the piece more when the author takes the audience into consideration. This shows when the excerpt tries to describe amazing food with " every bite the most parochial of palates detects redolent notes of something that they have no words to describe." The third reason to use metaphors is that they can add more interest into a piece of writing and can grab an audience's attention more easily. For instance, I love to cook and try out new recipes which makes me feel like, " every kitchen is homecoming, a respite, where I am the village lage elder, sage and revered." One last reason is that metaphors are simply nice to read, they can add poetic details to an otherwise dull piece of writing and make it boring excerpt more fun to read (tone). For example, I can relate with the cook about observing the people, "overwhelmed by an emotion that they have never felt, a nostalgia for places they have never been," while tasting the piece of art that we just created. All in all, these metaphors help support the passionate and appreciative tone of the chef life every time he steps into or talks about a kitchen. These details hooks the reader and wants to know more about the
CR: 2nd grade spelling test: loose-loos, trouble-truble, cared-card, began- beagan, yoos, load-lode 2/15
The second grade student appears to be at the end of the phonetic stage and is moving to be in the transitional stage of spelling. The student is moving from the dependence of phonology and starting to recognize patterns in writing such as the vowel diagraph oo. Also, the student has demonstrated a knowledge of alternative ways of representing sounds. The student understands letter patterns in words however, there are mistakes in ending sounds such as "de" in "lode". The student is aware that the silent e makes the vowel "o" and has confused "lode" for "load". It seems the student has recognized that different letters or combinations of letters can make the same sound. The mistakes that have been made show the transitional stage because the student has learned to recognize common patterns and structures in words, and has begun to use those patterns in writing. For example, the student has learned that adding an "e" to the end of a word usually changes a vowel to a long vowel, and can apply that rule to many words. The student can use more ways the long "e" sound can be spelled: "ee" as in "need;" "ea" as in "meat," "e" with a silent "e" as in "here," "-y" as in "happy." The student can get more practice by sorting a group of long "e" words by the way the sound is spelled and look for examples of the different patterns in reading. With more practice the child will probably continue memorizing the spelling of common irregular words.
CR Excerpt== and explain setting, characterization, and specific words that impact meaning. Passage was from "Love in the Time of Cholera" with a Dr. Urbino character. 2/15

She marries Dr. Urbina. Dr. Urbina dies and Florentino confesses his love for Fermina at the funeral. Fermina rejects with letter of hate. Yet, Florentino persists sending more letters. Fermina sees many of her friends on the river cruise and is desperate not to be seen. The captain his girlfriend, Florentino, and Fermina live on the boat with the yellow flag.
CR: Explain the 5th-grade students spelling development. Misspelling words like geese as gese or buckle as buckel, pickle as pickel, knowledge as nawledge , and beautiful as bewtiful
This specific fifth grader appears to be in the phonetic stage of spelling. The child is using a letter or a group of letters in order to represent every speech sound that they were hearing in the word loose out loud the e is silent. therefore, a child who is in the phonetic stage is not going to include the letter e because it is not as obvious to them when they are saying it out loud. the student is using their best judgment/ or invented spelling when sounding out the words but they still have some work to do before moving on to the transitional stage.it is important to know that invented spelling is not a bad thing it is in fact a milestone that all students will hit. However, it is good to know how to get one's students to eventually move past invented spelling. To do this the student's teacher can introduce his/ her students in the context of writing to word families, spelling"g patterns, phonics and word structures. The student will benefit from introducing word families of the digraph "ck". For example, "luck" and "pick". Students will always benefit from more reading using the vocabulary words/spelling words mentioned. The student can also benefit from the introduction of the short "e" sound along with the double "ee" sound which transforms into the long "e" sound. With the misspelling of "knowledge" the student can be introduced to the silent letter word family such as "knight" and ``gnaw," and "p" for pneumonia. The student should read 60 minutes a day with the teacher or a peer tutor, focusing on multiple syllabic site words, like "knowing" and "knowledgeable." The ped agogy of explicit direct instruction will lead to successful learning in the classroom.
