Ruminants

All bovids have unbranched, hollow horns and are grazing ruminants, animals that chew cud.

Giraffe

At 18 feet tall, the giraffe is the tallest living animal. this African mammal has a short body with long legs and neck.

Camels

Camels are commonly used for transportation in desert areas. The two species of camels are Bactrian and Arabian, or dromedary.

Deer

The deer, a four-toed artiodactyl, is a useful animal for man, providing skins and meat. Deer are browsers, feeding on grasses and other plants that grow close to the ground. A fawn (baby deer) is born, it has spots for camouflage.

Gnu

The gnu, or wildebeest, is a bovid found on the open plains of Kenya. Gnus have horns that span 33 inches.

Yak

The yak is a Himalayan ox found at altitudes of 20,000 feet and is useful for transporting goods in the mountains.

Ungulates

They are placed in the mammalian order of Artiodactyla.

Bovids

They include cattle, sheep, goats, and antelope,are probably the most useful group of artiodactyls providing man with food and clothing.

Wart Hog

Wart hogs and boars are more members of Artiodactyla. Wart hogs are about 2 feet tall and 5 feet long.

Hippopotamus

the hippopotamus is a 15-foot-long,5-foot-tall,2-ton artidactyl found throughout the waters of lower Africa.
