If it is possible to win the presidency by winning 11 large states, why do you think candidates pay attention to smaller states? Can you think of additional strategies that would benefit a Democrat or a Republican specifically?

I think they also focus on the little states because when it's a close race they rely on those little states to help them get in the lead. I think they should obviously go for big states but also go for the same amount of little states and not waste their time on the ones that are set one party or the other but try to sway the ones that are uncertain.

The electoral college is known to assist small states as well as geographically large states with small populations. Do you think that the electoral college benefits the small states? What other system could be implemented to help states with small populations?

No because the people running for president are targeting big states and only rely on the little states when it is close. Maybe they could do something like make the candidates pay attention to all the states and target all of them, not just the ones like texas and new york.

In 1964, it was decided that the electoral college would consist of 538 votes. Why do you think they decided on that number? What is the benefit of including the three additional seats from the District of Columbia?

They chose that number because the number of electors is equal to the total voting membership of the United states congress. It gives a vote from different peoples view.
