Furthermore, this data can also be used for other purposes and leaked outside the government. Do you think the police should be using facial recognition technology? Explain your answer. I think that the use of facial recognition has both good and bad aspects to it. It can be used to catch criminals in the area that could be dangerous to people. However, in the process of catching criminals, they are scanning the faces of the general public which can be seen as an invasion of privacy and people's faces can be used against them. I think that it should be used in a balanced way and that the public should be warned and aware about it.

Case study 2 - schools What are the advantages and disadvantages of using facial recognition technology being used in schools? Some of the advantages of using facial technology are that the teachers would be able to adjust and improve their teaching styles by seeing in which lessons the students look like they are paying less attention and which lessons the students look more engaged. Some disadvantages are that the facial recognition technology can detect false positives and false negatives and can produce false information. Furthermore, parents might not approve of their children's faces being scanned all of the time and this technology can also be intimidating to the students. Should schools in this country use facial recognition technology in the classroom? Explain your answer. I believe that the use of facial technology in schools is unnecessary in schools because the teacher could just see the expressions of the students faces to see in which classes the students look more engaged and in which lessons the students are paying less attention. Furthermore, there can be many false reading of the technology. Additionally, parents might not approve of the use of facial recognition technology and the students might be intimidated by it. What rules would you have for the use of facial recognition technology? One of the rules for the use of facial recognition technology should be that all of the students in the class and their parents should be aware and have a choice to to approve or decline the use of facial recognition technologies. There should also be a age restriction so younger kids aren't being recorded and scanned. Another rule should be that the school would have to keep the data private, protected and safe and not leak it out to third parties.

How does facial recognition work?

Facial recognition starts with a computer taking an image and calculating the distance between main facial features and landmarks (like your nose and eyes). It could also take the width and curves of your face into account and the depth of your eye sockets. These measurements are converted to a numerical code called your face print. Once a computer knows your face print, it looks into its database of images that have already gone through the process to see if it can find any matching codes.

What can cause bad readings and how can they be overcome?

Facial recognition was developed using 2d images, since they can't take depth into account, 2d systems rely on the distances between your main facial features or landmarks. The problem is that angles and lighting could cause a bad reading. 3d cameras sense depth by projecting invisible light onto a face and using sensors to capture the distance various points of that light from the camera itself. 3d images are much more accurate and reliable due to their sense of depth, however, false readings can still occur by different facial expressions or wearing glasses or growing facial hair.

What are some examples of facial recognition? (my opinion)

Should the police be allowed to use facial recognition software to monitor people in the street? I believe that the police should only use facial recognition software in emergencies or high-risk circumstances so that they are keeping the community safe and not invading people' privacy all of the time. I also think that if they are going to use facial recognition technologies then they should let the community know so that they are aware of it.

Some of the applications of facial recognition are Google's Pixel 2, Samsung's Galaxy S9, tagging people on Facebook, categorizing photos on Google Photos, face filters on Instagram and Snapchat, to tell the difference between strangers and family on home security cameras, for Police to match faces to mug shots and shopping malls could make personal recommendations to you as soon as you walk in as long as they know your face and have seen you around before.
