We used this software application to create a walk cycle film loop animation. Create composites, vector motion graphics, and visual effects with the multimedia authoring tools. Choose this if you are looking to do frame-by-frame animation, publish for the web, or just want a simple tool to quickly jump into and put your creativity to work with HTML5 Canvas. This software replaced Flash and was used to make games and indeed entire Websites. Now, there's a transition to HTML5 going on. Today, Flash may not be quite dead, but it's time is almost up and not supported anymore.

Adobe Animate

This is the industry standard tool for motion graphics and visual effects. The compositing tools enable you to combine multiple layers of video and graphic images seamlessly into the same scene. Use keying effects to remove a background, or use rotoscoping and masking tools to isolate any object. This software allows a time based artist to bring Hollywood effects to their animation and video artistry. Game environments, effects, and assets have also been developed with this application. We used it in class to demonstate Joey's flying bird:)

After Effects

This is a simple animation file type that only supports frame based animation and cannot play audio. First type of animation file format used within web sites. We created a two frame looping animation in Photoshop using this format and viewed it in a web browser. Project file has to be exported for web legacy to have the animation work.

Animated GIF

We talked about this free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, virtual reality, and computer games. It has great tools for modeling, rigging, rendering, animation, simulation, motion tracking and some game and video creation options. You can also use it for low poly and UV maps. Students like this because it is free and the 3D creation suite can be downloaded quickly for use. We did not use this in class but encouraged students to play with it at home if interested in 3D graphics.
