He was a clear choice because of his leadership and military experience and the fact that people loved him. He was chosen unanimously. Everything he did became a Precedent - an example for others to follow.

His Cabinet, or executive departments, was creted by the first Congress in 1789.

In July of 1794, a force of angry whiskey rebels attacked and destroyed the home of a tax inspector. The rebellion against the excise tax on whiskey, instituted by Hamilton and Congress, grew in numbers. President GW used force to put down the rebellion.
