The My Lai Massacre was on March 16, 1968. 100 U.S soldiers were sent to destroy the village of My Lai, which was was suspected hiding Viet Cong fighters. The villagers were killed by riffles, machine guns and grenades, and the houses were set on fire. A total of 400 villagers were killed and Lt. Talley was charged with premeditated murder. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison but 2 days later Nixon released him and sentenced him to house arrest.
