-Upon graduation, she became superintendent for the Institution for the Care of Sick Gentlewomen in Distressed Circumstances (now the Harley Street Nursing Home in London) -Nightingale grappled with a cholera outbreak and unsanitary conditions conducive to the rapid spread of the disease.
