What makes a piece of literature worthy of being studier

(This is a personal question. Everyones answers will be different) For me if an author puts time and effort into a piece of text then it is worth being studied and analyzed

What connotations do failed meals carry?

Failed meals carry negative connotations. These connotations imply that the relationship between the attendees of said communion is unstable or substandard. With (in most cases), good intentions of communion, the failure of the meal show an inability to get along, or finish the communion in peace, at that certain time. It can help reflect where the relationship of said attendees will end up in the future (or lack thereof).

foster states that writing a meal scene in literature is difficult and sometimes uninteresting. so then, what purpose does an author have for including such a scene in his/her work?

First off, it clearly defines the relationships present between characters that partake in the act of communion. Secondly, it can not only define but also develop relationships because it is such a sacred act between two or more characters if it goes well.

what is foster's definition of communion?

Foster defines communion as an whenever people eat, drink or smoke together.

according to Foster, what is important to remember about communions of all kinds?

It is important to remember that a communion is an act of sharing, peace and bonding. It doesn't always have to be good or successful, but it develops relationships nonetheless. It's never really about eating.

according to foster, how do memory, symbol, and pattern affect the reading of literature?

Pattern- Patterns allow readers to have a distanced and deeper understanding of the text Symbol- To an experienced reader everything is a symbol. When reading with that rule it can be a little annoying, however it results in a more honest interpretation of the text Memory- With the gift of memory when reading literature or viewing entertainment such as movies or TV, the experience of reading alters vastly. Instead of just reading or watching on a surface level, a person who is more immersed in literary culture makes connections to other works which makes the reading experience very different

How does the recognition of pattern make it easier to read complicated literature?

With knowledge of literary patterns, a reader can learn to filter out what's important and what is not. It's like trying to read Shakespeare. You have to filter out the fluff and get down to what Willy Shakes really wanted to convey
