How is the stomach part of an organ system?

The stomach works with other organs, such as the small and large intestines, to digest food.

Use the following terms in the same sentence: homeostasis, tissue, and organ.

Example Homeostasis is maintained by cells, tissues, and organs.

Predicting Consequences: Predict what might happen if the human body did not have specialized cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems to maintain homeostasis.

Example: The body would be unable to maintain homeostasis because the cells of the body would have too many mobs to do. The cells likely would not be able to do all of these jobs.

Give an example of how organ systems work together in the body.

Example: The cardiovascular system includes the heart and blood vessels. These organs are also part of the circulatory system, which includes blood. Together, these systems deliver the materials cells need to survive.

Applying Concepts: Tonya went to a restaurant and ate a hamburger. Describe how Tanya used five organ systems to eat and digest her hamburger.

Example: The nervous system sends messages to Tanya's muscular system to bite into the hamburger. Tanya's jaws, which are part of the skeletal system, help grind up the food. The food moves into Tanya's stomach, which is part of her digestive system. The digestive system breaks down the food and the circulatory system picks up nutrients from the digestive system to take throughout the body.
