When comparing things in English we use different prepositions for each word. I am similar (to) my friend or That building is different (from) yesterday or Canadian people are the same (as) Korean people. You can use and/with particles to represent all of these meanings. Informal High Respect: That building is different from yesterday.

그 건물은 어제와 달라요

It was understood by the students. Informal High Respect

그 것은 학생들에게 이해됐어요

That person is nice and smart

그 사람은 착하고 똑똑해요

That girl is very lovely

그 여자는 아주 사랑스러워요

The Rocky Mountains are high ( stating a general fact)

로키 산은 놉아요

나다 for something to come up/arise/occur, can be used in a lot of sentences to indicate that some noun "comes up". Examples 1. Ah! I remember that! (Literally my memory came up) 2. I have a good Idea (좋은 생각이 났어요) ( Literally a good idea came up). That bag is smelly (그 가방에서 냄새사 났어요) ( Am smell is coming out of that bag. Another common example of this word is for the expression 큰 일 났어요 to mean Oh no! something bad just happened. Translate the first sentence in Informal High Respect

아! 그것이 기억났어요

The movie was a little bit disappointing. describing that something has the properties of disappointment and not someones emotions like 실망하다 which is a verb while this word is an adjective

영화는 조금 실망스러웠어요

This mountain is high, but that mountain is low (낮다) comparative sentences

이 산은 높고 저 산은 낮아요

This mountain is high ( the mountain that I am looking at which I've never seen or noticed before, is high)

이 산이 놉아요

I caught a cold/ I have a cold ( cold=감기)

저는 감기에 걸렸어요

I like fruits and I like vegetables too. 도 and be added to both objects and this particle can be used to connect two clauses that have a similar idea

저는 괴일도 좋아하고 야채도 좋아해요

I looked at him lovingly

저는 그를 사랑스럽게 봤어요

Informal High Respect: I am different from him

저는 그와 달라요

Informal High Respect: I was given a chance. (기회=chance) 아/어주다 does not merge into the stem

저는 기회가 주어졌어요

I am too impulsive (충동적=impulsive) Remember if it ends in 적 it is a noun and the only way you see it being used as just 적 is when it is being a descriptive noun

저는 너무 충동적이에요

Informal High Respect: I met a man similar to your boyfriend

저는 너의 남자 친구와 비슷한 남자를 만났어요

I lied down and read a book (position verb + 눕다=lie down)

저는 누워서 책을 읽었어요

I saw a different (another) movie. Not the one I originally planned on seeing. Informal High Respect

저는 다른 영화를 봤어요

I saw Another movie, maybe the person saw one movie, and then saw a different movie as well. Informal High Respect

저는 또 다른 영화 봤어요

During vacation, I studied a lot of English grammar (문법) and I also read a lot of English newspaper. connecting two clauses that have a similar idea, that both happened in the past tense

저는 방학 동안 영어 문법을 많이 공부했고 영어 실문도 많이 읽었어요

I wanted to become a teacher.

저는 선생님이 되고 싶었어요

I will finish my homework and then go home. stressing that you are doing something after doing something else

저는 숙제를 끝내고 나서 집으로 갈 거예요

I don't want to drink alcohol

저는 술을 안 마시고 싶어요

I studied hard and (then) became a doctor. a considerable amount of time has passed and this leads to the possibility of the second clause happening

저는 열심히 공부했고 의사 됐어요

I am listening to music.

저는 음악을 듣고 있어요

I often buy clothes impulsively (충동적=impulsive)

저는 자주 옷을 충동적으로 사요

I read a book and then slept immediately

저는 책을 읽고 바로 잤어요

I am disappointed in my friend ( my friend is disappointing (has properties of disappointment) and therefore I am disappointed) remember this word is an adjective

저는 친구가 실망스러워요

I was disappointed in my friend

저는 친구한테 실망했어요

I will go to school and then study. first clause is intrinsically linked with the action of the second clause

저는 학교에 가서 공부할 거예요

I want to learn Korean.

저는 한국어를 배우고 싶어요

My homework is finished.Informal High Respect

저의 숙제는 끝났어요

Use 받다 to translate this sentence, only done with some verbs, usually ones that act on people. My brother is respected. Literally translation of My brother recieves respect.Informal High Respect (존경하다=to respect)

저의 형은 존경받아요

The lunch was provided by the school. (준비하다-to prepare)Informal High Respect

점심이 학교에 준비됐어요

The house was cleaned by a vacuum cleaner. Informal High Respect

집은 청소기로 청소됐어요
