Why did Truman fire Gen. MacArthur?

It took a lot for Truman to fire General MacArthur, such as when MacArthur wanted to push into North Korea to completely defeat the communist forces there. This scared Truman because he was afraid that China would see this as a threat and attack them, but MacArthur assured him it wouldn't and the Chinese ended up pushing back the Americans back into South Korea. He fired him mostly because MacArthur wanted to extend the war into other countries and to cause other problems without even considering the lives of the men fighting in the war.
