A subordinate clause that is used as a noun; it cannot stand alone and make sense.

Noun Clause

A group of words that has a subject and a predicate - the two main parts of a sentence.

Clause

A noun or pronoun that receives the action of a verb in a sentence. It answers the questions "what?" or "whom?" in a sentence.

Direct Object

The object of a preposition is the noun or pronoun governed by a preposition.

Object of Preposition

A single noun or a noun phrase that renames the subject of a sentence and follows a form of the verb "to be" or another linking verb.

Predicate Noun

A person or thing that is being discussed, described, or dealt with.
