Why are regions of central and south America known as latin America?

Central and South America are referred as Latin America because most of the citizens of three countries speak the romance languages of Spanish, French or Portuguese which are derived from Latin.

Panama is beat in Southern North America [Central America] on the is island vs of Panama, an narrow land bridge separating the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Brazil

The largest in south America sharing borders with the Atlantic Ocean and every country in South America except two [Chile and Educator].
