Lightning Definition
A movement of electrons between things or places that have opposite electrical charges.
How does lightning form?
An invisible stream -- called a stepped leader --- comes out of a cloud. It moves like a step down toward the ground. When the stepped leader is about 300 feet from the ground, lightning shoots up FROM THE GROUND to meet it in what is called the return stroke. Creates a bright flash of light!
