Bricolage is basically taking what you have and making something new out of it. It is all about taking what is available to you and tinkering with it. This is an appropriate metaphor because these kids use what they have (since they no longer have as much money) and make brand new clothes to represent themselves and their generation

I consider it more of an art because you're taking something and utilizing it in a different way to represent an artistic image. The author believes that it is a form of art, just like collaging, that is used to construct a diverse imagery that is representative of the youth.

this indie fashion has identified power relations between indie brands and the large companies that they source from. This is because the indie companies will never become as big as the mainstream companies . Also, these companies are also dominating the lives of the youth rather than the designers
