What does the word /ephemeral/ mean in paragraph one? Why might this quality of drama make a play more difficult to read than a novel would be?

Dynamic and with variety. This quality of drama would make a play more difficult to read than a novel because the actors would have to contribute to the actions, and expressions that are not described in the dramatic work, whereas a novel would excessively describe the emotions, and actions.

What kind of people would you expect to see in a theatre (one in which live drama is performed) today? Are the people you imagine different from the people Shakespeare would have expected? How?

Everyone in different ages, genders, and races. Anyone is able to watch theater in the present day. I believe the people I imagine is only slightly different to what Shakespeare would imagine. His audience would be a variety of lower-class and upper-class people but they would all be around the same age range.

Why do some readers find Shakespeare's writing difficult to understand? Explain. How do you feel about Shakespeare's language? Why?

Extensive array of vocabulary, including archaic language, an unfamiliar grammatical structure, and a "backward" arrangement of words in his sonnets and plays. The combination of these elements makes reading his writing more difficult.

His favorite play he wrote? Was he happy with the outcome of his life? Was he in the middle of writing a play when he died?

Some critics believe that author biographies are sometimes helpful in understanding what a person wrote. Many critics, however, feel that an author's life should not be brought into the analysis of a piece of literature. In other words, they fell we do not need to know about Shakespeare in order to understand or appreciate /Macbeth/ or any of his other works. Do you feel it is important to know an author's life history in order to understand his work? Explain your response.

I believe reading their work first without knowing their backgrounds is beneficial, and reading the author's history after to better understand only if you need to.

Similar to the actors of Shakespeare's time is how they are dressed in the best styles of the day, and specific actors were known for playing very specific roles (for example; Johnny Depp: crazy maniacs) Differences would be how in the past many of the actors were rumoured to be vagabonds or vagrants, which does not happen often today, and women are allowed to be actresses in modern day whereas they were not allowed in Shakespeare's time.

The tragic death of Hamlet is expressed in Shakespeare's writing, with enormous grief.

Briefly explain the four types of drama. How are are these types of drama different from what we might expect?

Tragedy: ends sadly, and often with the demise of the main character. Comedy: Ends happily, usually with a wedding or other celebration. History: Dramatizes a fictional historical event. Romance: A more serious form of comedy with strange fantastic, or supernatural elements. These types of dramas might be different from what we expect. When we think about comedy, we think of humor and funny elements, where in Shakespeare's time it is considered as a happy ending. Another example is romance, we think of love, and relationships between two people and drama, instead of in his time it's a more serious comedy with supernatural elements.
