Rounding a number

Find the number it is closest to. Look at the number after the place you want to round to: 4 or below, let it go (keep the same) 5 or above, give it a shove (increase number) For decimals, drop all other digits For numbers greater than 1, make remaining digits 0.

Solve proportion

Scale up or down (multiply or divide top and bottom by same number to make it true) Cross multiply and divide by the number across from the variable

Greatest common factor

The highest number that divides exactly into two or more numbers

Least common multiple

The smallest multiple (other than zero) that two or more numbers have in common.

Place value

The value of a digit based on its position within a number

mixed number

a number made up of a whole number and a fraction

write a number in standard form from expanded

add all the numbers up, Make sure to put all numbers in the correct place value

simplify a fraction

divide the numerator (top) and the denominator (bottom) by common factors until it can't be simplified

improper fraction to mixed number

divide the numerator by the denominator the answer on top is the whole number, the remainder is the numerator, the original denominator stays the same

mixed number to improper fraction

numerator = whole number x denominator (bottom) + numerator (top) denominator stays the same
