Explain the main difference between a compound and a mixture.

A mixture is two or more substances that are physically combined, and a compound is two or more substances that are chemically combined.

Explain the difference between physical properties and chemical properties, and list three examples of each

A physical property can be observed directly or measured without changing the chemical identity of the substance (ex: mass, volume, shape). A chemical property can only be observed or measured by changing the chemical identity of a substance (toxicity, flammability, combustibility).

Explain the difference between physical changes and chemical changes.

Physical change is a change in a substance that only affects its physical properties. Chemical change is a change in a substance that affects it chemical properties thus a chemical reaction occurs and a new substance is formed.

Differentiate between a homogenous mixture and a heterogeneous mixture.

The difference between a homogeneous and heterogeneous mixture is that a homogeneous mixture has even distribution and a heterogeneous mixture has uneven distribution.
