Metacognition definition

It is the processes used to monitor and plan one's understanding and performance. Metacognition is when one becomes more aware about what one is thinking and learning and it also allows for a critical awareness of oneself as a thinker and learner.

There are many ways to be metacognitive. One way is to be aware about when and how to use particular strategies for learning or for problem-solving.

What is the process of metacognition?

This is when one plans how to approach a certain situation or assignment. The process also includes monitoring how much one knows and then evaluating the whole set of progress that has been made towards the actual completion of the task.
