byte

-A byte is a unit of measurement used to measure data. One byte contains eight binary bits.

nibble

In computers and digital technology, a nibble is four binary digits or half of an eight-bit byte.

megabyte

One megabyte (abbreviated "MB") is equal to 1,000 kilobytes and precedes the gigabyte unit of measurement. While a megabyte is technically 1,000,000 bytes.

bit

A bit (short for binary digit) is the smallest unit of data in a computer. A bit has a single binary value, either 0 or 1.

gigabyte

A gigabyte (GB) is a measure of computer data storage capacity that is roughly equivalent to 1 billion bytes.

kilobyte

A kilobyte is 1,000 bytes.

terabyte

A terabyte is 1012 or 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. One terabyte (abbreviated "TB") is equal to 1,000 gigabytes and precedes the petabyte unit of measurement.

petabyte

Enterprise storage systems are starting to leave the terabyte behind, moving into petabytes and toward the exabyte stage. A petabyte (PB) is 1015 bytes of data, 1,000 terabytes (TB) or 1,000,000 gigabytes (GB).
