AutoFit

A feature in Word 2016 which automatically resizes text in a table or text box.

A view type used in Word 2016 to display documents as if they were on the Internet in the form of a website.

Outline

A view type which shows the user the key points of a Word 2016 document and displays data in a listed format.

Cut

An editing technique used in Word 2016 to remove text or other objects from one part of a Word document and place it in a new location, whether it be internal or external. In the cutting process the original item is removed and not left behind like it is in the copying process.

Paste

An editing technique used in conjunction with cutting or copying in Word 2016. It is the part of those processes where the data is placed in the new location.

Bookmark

An internal link within a Word 2016 document which navigates a user to another part of the document.

Picture

An object used in Word 2016 to personalize documents. Pictures are often used for documents that will be published on the Internet.

Template

An outline or design in Word 2016 which allows the user a degree of conformity and guidance while creating a specific type of document.

Shape

Any basic rectangle, circle, or other type of object used in Word 2016. Shapes can be used for aesthetic purposes or formatting.

Style Set

Similar to themes in Word 2016, it is used to change the look and feel of a document but it does not change the font. It changes the indentation and space settings of the document.

Format Painter

A feature in Word 2016 which duplicates the formatting from a selected object or text and applies it to another object or text in a document.

Bulleted List

Similar to numbered lists in Word 2016, it is used to organize data in a document; however, since no numbers are used there is no sense of order or importance.

Repeating Header Row

A special form of table row in Word 2016 which is used to repeat the information in the topmost row of a table to multiple pages of a document. This row is often used if the table is big enough to cover more than one page.

Section Break

A feature used in Word 2016 which acts as a type of page break. It can be used to start a new area on the next page, start a new area on the same page, start a new area on the next even-numbered page, or start a new area on the next odd-number page in a Word document.

Check Accessibility

A feature built into Word 2016 which is used to check a document for content that will be difficult to read for users with disabilities.

Find & Replace

A feature in Word 2016 which allows a user to find any form of text in a Word document and replace it with different text.

Go To

A feature in Word 2016 which allows the user to navigate to specific parts of a document based on page, section, line, bookmark, comment, footnote, or other items.

Inspect Document

A Word 2016 feature used to check a document for hidden properties or personal information.

Print Layout

A Word 2016 view type which shows the user what the document will look like when it is printed. It displays where pages end, as well as the page margins.

Macro

A combination of automation instructions and commands which can be recorded and used to perform commonly executed tasks inside a Word 2016 document. It can be used for editing, formatting, and navigating between documents.

Table Tools

Header

Column

The vertical pieces within a Word 2016 table.
