Anterior fontanelle
A evaluation tool with a maximum score of 10; used to assess a newborn at 1 min and five mins after delivery. Five factors (scored 0, 1, 2) are heart rate color muscle tone relax irritability and respiratory effort
Apgar score
Subperiosteal sweating containing blood, found on the head of some new boring. Swelling doesn't cross suture line, there often appears unilateral; usually disappears within first two weeks to two months without tax

Microcephaly
Very small white keratin filled cysts or papyrus normally found on neonates face. Usually go away on own
Milia
Dark blue or slate grey discoloration most commonly found in lumbosacral area: intensity and hue of color remain until fading occurs
Monogolian spots
A sound heard while listening and to the heart; caused by blood leaking through opening that have not closed remain until fading occurs
Murmur
Abnormal sucking in of the chest wall during inspiration; indicates respiratory distress. They can be substernal or intercostal
Retractions
The infants tendency to turn the head and open the lips to suck when that side of the mouth or cheek is touched or stroked
Rooting reflex
A cheese like substance secreted by the sebaceous glands near the clitoris in the female and under the prepuce of an uncircumcised male
Smegma
development anomaly in which the urethra opens on the lower surface of penis
Hypospadias
A protective cheese like whitish substance made of sebum and desquamated epithelial cells that is present on fetal skin and the skin of newborn
Vernix caseosa
The conforming of the fetal head to the size and shape of the birth canal
