Covers about 14% of the earths surface. Enclosed on 3 sides by the landmasses of Africa, Asia, and Australia. Average depth is about 12,800 feet, deepest point in this ocean region occurs in the java trench.

Pacific ocean

Is the largest ocean covering 30% of the earth's surface. The average depth is 14,100 feet. The deepest point is the Mariana trench at 35,840 feet. About 25,000 islands in the pacific ocean.

Arctic ocean

Smallest ocean covering 3% of the earth's total surface. Nearly land lock and located north of the arctic circle. The average depth is 3450 feet, covered by a persistent ice pack. During the winter months, sea ice covers much of the arctic oceans surface. Higher temperatures in the summer months cause the ice pack to shrink by about 50%

The southern ocean

Surrounds Antarctica, and occupies 4% of the earth's surface. Average depth is 13,100 to 16,100 feet. Deepest point is the South Sandwich Trench at 23,373 feet.
