Because a big Lincoln continental pulled into the car wash. She likes Luke and got worried of how she looks (hair and shirt).

Because children of Athena are afraid of spiders but Athena herself isn't.

By humiliating the couple and making fun of them.
How does Grover save the day?
He saves the day with his flying shoes . He caught Annabeth and Percy when they exited the ride, then carried them past the gate.
What does Ares want from Percy? What is in it for Percy, Grover, and Annabeth?
He wants Percy to get Ares' shield from the abandoned water park. Percy will get information of his mom and a ride west.
What is iris messaging ? How does it work?
It is a way to communicate with the gods and demigods. It works by getting 75 cents, then spray the nozzle in the air and try and make a rainbow. Drachmas will be needed, raise the hand with the drachma over your head and say, "O god please accept our offering," then you throw it up and it'll disappear in a golden shimmer. Then you would say where you wanted to go.
Grover doesn't smell any monster at the "Tunnel of love" even though it's a trap. Why is that?
It's a trap for gods, because only Hades can send monsters. Hephaestus used mechanical spiders.
What happens when Percy, Grover, and Annabeth are retrieving Ares' shield?
Percy and Annabeth get caught in a trap by Hephaestus. He thought he would catch Ares with Aphrodite.
How do Annabeth and Percy get out of the "thrill ride of love?"
Percy turns on the water and Annabeth tells them when to jump out of the boat so they won't crash into the other boats. Grover catches them in midair. It was a team effort.
Why does Ares and his girlfriend Aphrodite meet in out-of-the-way places?
She is married to Hepaestus. Her husband Hepaestus always tries to embarrass them, by catching (in a net) them together.
How does Annabeth put her knowledge of physics to work on the water ride ?
She puts her physics to work by calculating when to jump of the boat and land out of the water.
What did Ares say that convinced Percy to help him?
That if Percy does his favor Ares would tell him something about his mom ,and give them a ride west.
