Explain why the mass of the syringe increased when the cap was taken off.

The mass decreased because the cap of the syringe held more mass compared to the tube because the tube is most likely hollow while the cap was a solid filled in.

Describe what each of the following are: claim, evidence, and reasoning.

A claim is your idea that you think is happening. Evidence is a body of facts that can support your claim. Reasoning is when you explain your evidence and how it connects with your claim and why it's correct.

If balloon B is negative and balloon A and B are attracting what is the charge of balloon A and if balloon A and C are repel what's the charge of balloon C.

B is negative and A must be positive because it attracts to B. C must also be positive because it is repelling from A.

Continuous model

Continuous model of matter shows a more blended interpretation of matter where the smallest pieces still have the same properties as the whole object.

What will happen to the electric fields as two charged objects get closer?

If they have same charges, as they get closer they will repeal If they have opposite charges, as they get closer they will attract The interaction gets stronger the closer the objects get.

Explain how a positively charged object is able to charge a neutral object. (or how any objects get charged)

It would be able to charge the neutral object because some of its charges would Stick to the object and charge it. The object must be in contact with each other for the charged object to give charges to the neutral. The 1st object becomes less charged after it is contact with the neutral object.

What is an electric field? What is the relationship between electric field and forces between charged objects.

Its a region of charged particles located around a charged object. When electric fields of 2 different objects interact, they exert a force - either repulsion or attraction. The electric field is always present around a charged object but there has to be 2 object for there to be a force.

particle model

Particle model shows the particles that make up the object. The particles are the smallest parts and do not have the same properties as the whole object.

After a balloon is rubbed on hair, it sticks to the wall. Describe why this electrostatic interaction occurs.

The balloon is positively charged and the wall is negatively charged so they will attract to each other. The reason that they attract is because the balloon is negative (charged) and the wall is neutral.

you observe two balloons suspended from the ceiling. You notice that instead of hanging straight down vertically, the balloons seem to be repelling each other. What can you conclude about the balloons?

The balloons have the same charge because they are repelling one another. Opposite charges attract and the same charges repel. The balloons are either positive and positive or negative and negative charges.

What interaction will occur between a charged object and a neutral object?

The charge doesn't matter in terms of the interaction. Charged object (+ or -) will attract to a neutral object.

Describe what will happen to the electric force as the distance between charged objects decreases (objects get closer).

The electric force would get stronger - they direction of movement will depend on the charges of the objects.

what happened to the volume when we mixed water and ethanol.

The volume decreased to 98 ml. The calculated volume should have been 100 ml

What are the 3 parts of a scientific model?

compoents, relatioships , and explain the phenomea

Why the actual (observed) volume of the water and ethanol was less than expected.

it would be because the water had more mass compared to the ethanol so mostly the water filled up half of the tube. But since there was not enough mass in the ethanol it caused the final volume to not reach 100ml The particles are different sizes

Describe what will happen to the force between charged objects if the amount of the charge on the objects is increased.

the force will increase
